Yes! This is -ingrained- into most women's psyche (your perception is spot on because reading those verbal assaults made me recoil!) It is CONSTANT... the looking at our bodies, especially nipples, and commenting/judging/staring etc.! Sometimes I'm utterly amazed that we've made it through this bullshit. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sure it was unpleasant to revisit YET important to document so we can start calling these people out and live in our bodies with safety and ease.

I have a lot of thoughts and shared experiences like this, but I need to go hit the bag for an hour and pretend it's your former landlord and his plumber friend.

First, I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with such vulgarness multiple times in your life. I wish your disgusting former landlord and his nasty plumber have a Yelp page so you can discourage other sane people from working with them. And for Dave, he knows you’re judged by the friends you associate with, right??

Secondly, I thought by reading the title of this piece that it was going to be about your breast screening...hoping it’s been cleared up and everything is benign.

All clear on the mammogram front! Benign cysts. Thank you for reading!

Yes to all of this, Monica!

All women should feel safe to be free & go braless all of the time. My wife is more well endowed than I am and I now understand this on a deeper level. It is so annoying to see her have to put a bra on again at night to take the dogs out… just in case we happen to run into one of our male neighbors. Come on dudes, do better. 😑

Thank you for reading and commenting! Interestingly, I often experience a more judgmental energy from women. Men just stare as if they can't control themselves. 50+ year-olds acting like junior high schoolers who have never seen nipples.

You are right; women can be awful, too! Let's refrain from staring, commenting on, and judging people's bodies. Period.

Also wanted to thank you as a longtime reader. I am currently caring for my sick father and your writing has really helped me through this tough time in my life. Thank you!
